Having seen glowing reviews elsewhere, I decided to give this gas station kiosk a try. Upshot - it's pretty good, not quite great. Chicken al pastor burrito was quite smoky and deeply flavorful, and the bean and cheese burrito was a very nice and richly flavored version of the simple classic. $25 out the door for those two, which is plenty of food for 2 people for lunch. Definitely better than what one would expect from a mini mart and worth stopping by if you are in the neighborhood and hungry, but destination dining this is not and its placement on Eater LA's best burrito list is maybe a touch generous. Still, recommended.
Cilantro is cilantrolicious Opted to try a little of what they have to offer, tacos to be had next. The Veggie Burrito, salsa, pico and chips were a nice meal tonight. Some of my old work pal's would frequent this spot a lot on lunch or after so I knew it would be pretty good (kudos to Mary and Mary). I've passed Cilantro Mexican Grill a few times in it's permanent nook inside the convenience & food mart half of Chevron station near the 170 Hollywood Fwy off ramp for Sherman Way. Sometimes the best gems are where you'd least expect. A cool savory menu of burritos, tacos, sides, bowls, plates, tortas and tostadas. Their vegetarian options are stellar and most are vegan by default or an easy mod away. Tried medium heat for most things and wishing I'd good up to hot or habanero as I love the spice! Medium felt like mild to be, but still enjoyable. Agua Frescas... Mas alla de delicioso!! Like so yum!! Strawberry Coconut y/o Sandia (watermelon). They have tables and chairs inside if you want to dine in (though limited), spots outside if you want to foodie tailgate from your car and offer delivery or pickup/takeout. Good prices, good flavors, good Cilantro.
Our new favorite Mexican restaurant! We usually order via DoorDash and the food always arrives hot. Our fav is the surf and turf burrito and the carne asada fries! The food is so flavorful and the steak is always tender and soft. The chips that come with everything are SO good. The restaurant is inside of a Chevron, so when you arrive just be prepared. There is quite a bit of seating for a gas station lol but they usually serve quickly and everything is out fresh! Can't recommend this place more!
Wow! Their burritos are flavorful and delicious. They pack their burritos with your choice of meat. The chicken alpastor is currently my favorite. They serve the burrito with seasoned chips. They have aguas frescas and Great service. Cilantro is located inside the gas station. There is a good amount of sitting.
One of my co-workers recommended Cilantro Mexican Grill, and I knew I had to try this place when I was craving a burrito earlier this week. I ordered thru DoorDash and got the Carne Asada Burrito with black beans and a side of mild salsa. When I received my food, the takeout box also came with a side of chips. I devoured everything! The burrito was smaller than I expected, but it packed a punch. The carne asada was tender, flavorful, and took up the majority of the burrito - got my money's worth! The chips were crispy and had a light seasoning. The mild salsa was fresh and had a hint of heat; I might go up to the medium heat level next time. Since I ordered delivery, I can't write much about the restaurant's ambiance and customer service, but with how delicious this burrito was, I'd definitely order from Cilantro Mexican Grill again!
Well, I never thought I would order a $24 burrito out of a gas station food Mart, but here we are. So many great reviews here so I had to try it. I got the Surf & Turf Burrito, covered with Ranchero Sauce. It comes with Seared Steak, Grilled Shrimp, Serrano-Pesto, Mexican Rice, Avocado, Tomatoes, Sour Cream, Lettuce, Black Beans, Cheese and Ancho Ranch Salsa. To say that this thing is 'loaded', would be an understatement! It also comes with a small bag of chips. The Burrito tasted great, as did the chips. The service wasn't super friendly but it's a lot of work in that tight space. There are only 7 parking spots here so it might take you a while to get in, but I will say that this is the cleanest food mart I have ever seen at a gas station. Cilantro Mexican Grill is worth a visit.
